This process is to help eliminate most of the human error when printing, laminating, then cutting.
Follow these steps below:
1) Load media into machine. Make sure to load the media correctly so there is no skew when printing. (Check the machine's user manual for proper loading techniques.) It is recommended to advance the media so there is 4"-10" of leading edge before starting a job. This allows space for error.
2) Import the print/cut file into VersaWorks. Open the file and under the "layout" tab hit “get media width”. Make sure that “center to the media” is disabled. Under the “Mark” tab, make sure “Crop Marks (Print&Cut alignment)” is enabled. Under the “Cut Controls” tab, change the operation mode to “print only”. (at this point, you can adjust the job settings to fit your needs.) Hit “OK” at the bottom right. Send the print only portion of the job to the printer.
3) Once the job has successfully completed printing, it is required to advance the media 4"-10" after the last crop marks before sheet cutting. This allows the machine to have enough material to read the last crop marks.
4) Once the sheet has been laminated. Take a long straight edge and align it to the bottom of the crop mark circles on the leading edge. Draw a small mark on the edge of the media with a marker. (See image)
5) Insert media back into printer and align the marker lines up to the cut strip on the machine. This will help ensure that the media is loaded as square to the machine as possible. Set up the material on the machine.
6) Go back to VersaWorks and click into the same job. DO NOT click “get media width”. The only thing you need to do is go to the “Cut Controls” tab and change the operation mode to “cut only.” Hit OK. Now you can send the job to cut.
