How often should I shake the ink cartridges?

To maintain print quality, shake your ink cartridges regularly using the schedule and steps below:

• Shake the White ink cartridges at the start of every working day, or whenever a low-ink or maintenance message appears on the printer display.
• Shake the color ink cartridges at least once a month.

Shake each cartridge as shown in the illustration below. Use the following steps:

1. Hold the cartridge as shown and rapidly shake it for about 15 seconds.
2. For White ink cartridges only, flip the cartridge over as shown and repeat the shaking motion.

Caution:
Do not touch the IC chip on the end of each cartridge. Touching the IC chip may prevent the cartridge from being recognized, or cause the printer to stop printing properly.
